What should you do with your Christmas tree?

Christmas Tree Pickup Kenosha Racine 2014 2015

Now that the holidays are drawing to a close and we’ve got to buckle down for the winter months ahead, it’s good to give our homes a fresh start. So let’s be proactive and get those Christmas decorations taken down sooner rather than later. The big one, of course, is the tree, and it’s not always 100% clear what we’re meant to do with them. Some communities let you take them out to the curb; others want you to bring them to a designated drop-off point. Today we’ll let you know the deal for the primary communities we serve here in Southeast Wisconsin. Information about Christmas tree pickup for Kenosha and Racine 2014-2015 can be found below:

Kenosha Christmas Tree Disposal 2015:

In Kenosha, Christmas trees are recycled by the city and used as mulch for public parks. In order to make sure that the chipping equipment used by the city doesn’t get damaged, you’ll need to make sure your tree is completely free of decorations, especially any metal ones, nails, parts of tree stands, etc. You’ll need to drop your tree off — inside the green snow-fenced areas of the locations listed on this document — between now and January 31st.

For Racine, there is a pickup service for the city’s Christmas tree recycling program. For the first two weeks of the new year, starting on the 2nd, the Department of Public Works picks up trees on the curbside from city residents on the same day as your normal solid waste disposal. Please make sure there are no decorations, stands, or other materials left on your tree.

How about wreaths and other holiday foliage? In both Kenosha and Racine, those will need to be disposed of along with the rest of your solid waste.

If you’ve got any questions, contact your respective city’s public works department. Happy New Year from Palmen Auto Stores!
